We are very active at Pack 124 and have a lot of events throughout the year. This page has our calendar of events as well as a summary of some of our usual events during the year.
This event is typically held on the first Wednesday of September to share information for the upcoming Cub Scout year. There are activities to keep the kids busy while parents/guardians take part in the informational session.
This is the first of at least two campouts Pack 124 has every year. Your entire family is invited to attend. It is a great opportunity for kids to learn some Scout skills and parents to get to know each other.
Scouts are encouraged to wear a costume and bring a friend to the October pack meeting where we will have fun activities and a pumpkin carving competition.
During our November pack meeting, we usually honor veterans who have served our country in the military. Scouts are encouraged to invite family members and friends who have served. We usually have some visitors from a Scouts BSA troop hold a flag retirement at this event.
Families are asked to share the religious holidays they celebrate. This event typically ends with a visit from Santa with gifts for our Cub Scouts.
This is one of our most exciting events of the year! Cub Scouts will receive a Pinewood Derby kit in December. They will then work with their families at home or at one of our pack workshops to build their car to compete in January with other Scouts in their den and compete for the pack overall champion. We also have various best design categories. Rules for the race can be found here.
There is usually a concession stand and bake sale to help raise funds for the pack.
This is the most formal event of our year as we celebrate Scouting's birthday! Families will enjoy a spaghetti dinner together and there is some form of entertainment.
We will also recognize our Cub Scouts' achievements and honor our 5th Grade Scouts who have earned the highest rank in Cub Scouts, the Arrow of Light. These Scouts will then participate in a crossover ceremony to a Scouts BSA troop.
There is usually a cake decorating contest and auction and a silent auction to help raise funds for the pack.
This is the sailboat equivalent of the pinewood derby. Scouts are free to paint and decorate their sailboats and make modifications for speed.
The BSA Adopt-A-Shool program aims to connect Cub Scout Packs with schools in their communities. Participating Scouts partner with their school to offer volunteer services that most meet their school's needs.
Annual food-collection drive run by the local council. It’s another reminder to our local communities that Scouts are here, doing good turns. Scouts visit neighborhoods to to pick up nonperishable items to be delivered to needy families in Hamilton County.
Much like the fall campout, your entire family is invited to attend. This is a great opportunity for your child to demonstrate the skills they have learned during the Scouting year and enjoy the fellowship of other pack families.
This fun and engaging event consists of ceremonies to recognize our Cub Scouts for the achievements of the year. They will then bridge toward working on their next rank.
